Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper, to taste

4 slices of rye bread

4 slices of Swiss cheese

1 large onion, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons butter

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon ketchup

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

Prepare the Secret Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and paprika. Stir until well combined and set aside.

Shape the Patties: In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties.

Cook the Onions: In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the sliced onions and sauté until caramelized and golden brown, about 10-15 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Cook the Patties: In the same skillet, add the remaining butter and increase heat to medium-high. Place the patties in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your preferred doneness. Top each patty with a slice of Swiss cheese during the last minute to let it melt.

Assemble the Patty Melt: On one slice of rye bread, spread about a tablespoon of the secret sauce. Place a cooked patty with melted cheese on top, followed by a generous portion of the caramelized onions. Top with another slice of rye bread.

Grill the Sandwich: Return the sandwich to the skillet over medium heat. Grill each side of the sandwich for 3-4 minutes until the bread is golden brown and crispy. Repeat with the remaining patties and bread.

Serve: Slice the patty melts in half and serve warm with extra secret sauce on the side for dipping.
