Braised Pork Belly With Taro Root 芋頭扣肉 Fast and easy to prepare. A delicious dish using traditional Chinese ingredient, the taro root.
A real Chinese comfort food. Recipe is below:

Braised Pork Belly With Taro Root 芋頭扣肉
1 1/4 lbs. taro root
1 1/4 lbs. pork belly
1 tablespoon cooking oil
1 teaspoon chopped ginger
1 teaspoon chopped garlic
2 cups water
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon oyster flavoured sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon salt

Boil some water in a pot. Put pork belly into boiling water for 5 minutes to remove some of the fat and some of the impurities.
Cut pork belly into pieces, either thick or thin.

Use potato peeler to take of skin of taro root. Wash taro root in cold water. Cut taro root into bite sizes, about 1 inch in diameter

Preheat 1 tablespoon cooking oil in a frying pan at medium heat.
Grill both sides of pork belly for 1 to 2 minutes each. Add ginger and garlic and stir fry with the pork belly.

Heat a pot at medium heat and put in pork belly with the ginger and garlic. Add 2 cups of water. Also add soy sauce, oyster flavour sauce, sesame oil and salt into the pot.

Cover pot with a lid and cook for 30 to 45 minutes at medium heat. Add taro root and stir well with the pork belly. Cover with the lid again. Cook for a final 15 minutes. Serve on a nice dish. Enjoy!
